Senior Process Design Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a process design engineer to join the Coolbrook Process Technology team. The ideal candidate has a firm grasp on the practical application of process engineering fundamentals and has the drive to pursue individual expertise and expand knowledge in the field of process technology around Coolbrook RotoDynamic Technologies.

Our senior engineer will be responsible for the basic design of the process package around RDR/RDH technologies. They will work closely with all relevant stakeholders — including technology and engineering partners, customers and engineering subcontractors — to ensure all cross-functional requirements are met. The applicant must be self-driven, detail oriented, a good team player, able to handle multiple project assignments, and be willing to learn, adapt and contribute in a fast paced product development engineering organization.

Location: Helsinki, FI. (Home office / office). Other locations can be considered on demand

Tasks

  • Basic design of the RDR/RDH process package.
  • Prepare process descriptions, process flow diagrams and technical specifications for main process equipment.
  • Define process and utility stream interfaces at boundary.
  • Process development and concept development for pilot and commercial units.
  • Interface with external process engineering subcontractors and our engineering and technology partners.
  • Own and update master simulations on pilot and commercial processes.
  • Create networks and new connections with engineering companies and partners.
  • Take ownership of relevant process engineering standards and specifications.
  • Deliver technical project management in customer projects.
  • Develop in-house process engineering tools, competences and practises.

Essential requirements:

  • MSc degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum five years industry working experience in chemical engineering.
  • Demonstrable analytical abilities with strong attention to detail and solutions.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of drivers behind process development: safety, reliability and economic feasibility.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and to follow up on tasks and assignments.
  • Self-driven: holds oneself accountable for achieving the results expected by stakeholders and customers.
  • Proactively responds to customers and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English).
  • Be a good team player.

Desirable

  • Hands-on process engineering experience from more than one industry (e.g., oil and gas, petrochemicals and chemicals, cement, steel, etc.).
  • Good understanding of process simulation tools (Aspen Plus or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of engineering practises, standards and specifications.
  • Experience in process development and creation of new and innovative process concepts.
  • Experience in engineering project management.
  • Well-established network within process engineering industry and academia.
