Now hiring: Structural Analysis Expert

December 08, 2021

Coolbrook is currently looking to hire a Structural Analysis Expert to help us continue to pioneer our technology.

Coolbrook is a Finnish-Dutch technology company on a mission to cut at least 25% of the world’s industrial CO2 emissions by electrifying traditionally fossil-fuel-heavy industrial processes. Using space science and turbomachinery and mechanical and chemical engineering, our revolutionary rotating machinery technology is able to reach heats up to 1700℃ in a completely electric process. Our Roto Dynamic Heater (RDH) and Roto Dynamic Reactor (RDR) are being used to electrify industrial sectors that until now have been considered almost impossible to electrify, including the steel, cement and chemical industries.

Together with governments, industry pioneers and the world’s top experts, we can use this technology to solve one of the biggest challenges humanity has ever faced. Will you join us?

Coolbrook is currently looking to hire a Structural Analysis Expert to help us continue to pioneer our technology.

Your main duties in this role will be:

  • Assist design engineers by providing modelled data.
  • Design parts and assemblies requiring thorough FEA simulations.
  • Performing machines’ lifetime estimations and updating them with real-world data.
  • Developing material models from scattered material data.

To fill this position, we would like you to have:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in the field of mechanical engineering or closely relevant fields. A Doctor of Science / PhD Degree is optimal.
  • 3+ Years of work experience in mechanical modelling and simulations.
  • Good knowledge of Structural Analysis theory.
  • Good knowledge of modelling approaches in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to assist design work with FEA, theoretical or empirical models in a fast and interactive manner.
  • Proven ability to comprehensively verify a given design with FEA and get results which match with real-world data.
  • Proven ability to do all the following types of analysis: linear mechanical analysis, mechanical analysis using non-linear material models, thermal stress analysis, also including transient type analysis of all aforementioned, low and high cycle fatigue, creep analysis, rotodynamic analysis, equipment/component lifetime estimations.
  • Experience of material model development from experimental data desired.
  • Solid knowledge and proven experience of work with FEA software. Ansys is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of 3D modelling software: SolidWorks (preferred), Autodesk Inventor, DesignModeller, SpaceClaim.
  • Knowledge of data processing software/languages: Matlab/Octave, Simulink, Scilab, Python is a plus
  • Ability to think ‘out of the box’
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and practical experience on turbomachinery desired.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good written and oral English skills.
  • Fluency with basic computer software: mail, office, cloud storage, online meetings, etc. and ability to quickly adapt to the company’s software ecosystem.

About Coolbrook

Coolbrook Ltd. is a Finnish-Dutch engineering company on a mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable and profitable way to produce Olefins, the main component in the petrochemical industry and the production of plastics, chemical products, packaging and more. Coolbrook’s Rotor Dynamic Reactor (RDR) is a revolutionary technology that combines space science, turbomachinery and chemical engineering to replace the current inefficient and polluting steam cracking methods used to make Olefins with a radically cleaner and more effective alternative. Backed by a growing number of governments, petrochemical producers and environmental regulators, Coolbrook’s RDR technology is set to become the new global standard in Olefins production.
