Coolbrook has been named a winner of the 2025 BloombergNEF (BNEF) Pioneers Award, earning global recognition for its breakthrough work in industrial decarbonization. The award highlights Coolbrook’s pioneering role in electrifying high-temperature processes in heavy industry — one of the most critical and challenging sectors in the transition to net zero.

Recognised in the Wildcard Category

Each year, BloombergNEF selects a small group of companies from hundreds of applicants that are delivering scalable, impactful climate solutions. Coolbrook was selected as one of 12 global winners for 2025, under the Wildcard category, which this year focused on innovators working to reduce emissions in heavy industry — a sector responsible for nearly 40% of global CO₂ emissions.

Coolbrook’s winning innovation, the RotoDynamic Heater (RDH), enables electrification of industrial heat processes at temperatures up to 1500°C without combustion or direct emissions. This offers a scalable and energy-efficient alternative to fossil fuel-based heating in sectors like cement, steel, and chemicals.

A milestone for clean industrial technology

“We are honoured to be recognised among global climate tech pioneers,” said Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook. “Heavy industry remains one of the most difficult areas to decarbonize — and this award is a strong signal that our technology is a critical part of the solution.”

Coolbrook’s RDH stood out to BNEF’s expert panel for its combination of engineering excellence, real-world application potential, and alignment with climate goals. The award further underscores the company’s role as a key player in industrial electrification.

Representing Nordic innovation on the global stage

Coolbrook’s CEO Joonas Rauramo and CCO Lauri Peltola will attend the BNEF Summit in New York City later in April to accept the award and share insights on scaling decarbonization technologies in industrial sectors.
