Coolbrook, a transformational technology and engineering company, has entered into a strategic partnership with one India’s leading cement companies Ambuja Cements (part of Adani Group), to implement Coolbrook’s proprietary RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) technology for zero carbon high-temperature process heating across Ambuja’s manufacturing operations.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Coolbrook as the company expands its reach with Ambuja Cements, a leader in the cement industry in India. It also represents a critical step in strengthening Ambuja Cements’ industry leadership position and advancing its move towards net-zero across its cement manufacturing processes.
In the first phase, Coolbrook’s patented RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) technology, which harnesses renewable electricity to power high-temperature industrial processes, will be integrated to reduce fossil fuel reliance and increase energy efficiency across Ambuja Cements’ manufacturing operations. With Adani Group’s renewable power generation capabilities, this partnership provides Coolbrook with a unique opportunity to demonstrate the scalability and transformative potential of its technology.
Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook, stated, “This partnership is a major step forward for Coolbrook as we aim to revolutionize heavy industries with our innovative electrification technology. Ambuja Cements’ strong commitment to sustainability and leadership position in renewable energy makes them an ideal partner for us to expand our offerings and drive the global energy transition. By integrating our RDH™ technology into their operations, we can showcase how renewable electricity can effectively replace fossil fuels in high-temperature process heating, setting a new standard for the industry.”
Speaking on the partnership, Ajay Kapur, CEO of Cement Business at Adani Group, said, “Our strategic partnership with Coolbrook is exciting as it is a testament to our commitment to Net Zero targets. This move further strengthens our industry leadership in sustainability. We continuously seek out innovations which drive efficiency and decarbonisation across our cement manufacturing value chain. Leveraging our Adani Group’s green power generation capabilities, we will be able to reduce fossil fuel dependence, costs, and emissions, ultimately delivering the best value for our stakeholders.”
Coolbrook’s RDH™ technology has the potential to reduce global CO2 emissions in heavy industries by 30%, equivalent to more than 2.4 billion tons annually. The technology’s heat-generating capabilities have been verified in large-scale pilot tests to surpass 1000°C, significantly above conventional resistive heaters, and reach up to 1700°C, crucial for decarbonizing high-temperature processes in heavy industries. More insights on decarbonizing cement manufacturing with RDH™ technology are available on Coolbrook’s cement industry page.
About Coolbrook
Hailed as the key technology for industrial decarbonization globally, Coolbrook is a transformational technology and engineering company on a mission to decarbonise major industrial sectors like petrochemicals and chemicals, iron and steel, and cement. Coolbrook’s revolutionary rotating technology combines space science, turbomachinery and chemical engineering to replace burning of fossil fuels across all major industrial sectors. The technology has two main applications: RotoDynamic Reactor™ (RDR™) to reach 100% CO2 free olefin production, and RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) to provide carbon-free process heating to iron and steel, cement and chemicals production. Once implemented at scale, the RotoDynamic Technology has the potential to reach temperatures of 1700°C and cut 2.4 billion tons (30%) of annual CO2 emissions in heavy industry.
