HELSINKI, Finland, Jul 20, 2026 Coolbrook and ABB today announce the industrial delivery phase of their partnership, which sees the first-of-its-kind industrial-scale deployment of Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) powered by ABB at Adani Cement’s Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh, India.

As part of a long-term partnership, which has included exploratory research and development and testing, Coolbrook has now awarded ABB the electrical equipment scope for the RDH™ project. ABB will provide drives, motors, an e-house and other key electrical components and infrastructure, integrated with the ABB Ability™ System 800xA® distributed control system (DCS), to enable the safe, reliable, and high-performance operation of the RDH system.

As renewable electricity capacity expands and climate frameworks tighten across key markets, industrial producers are increasingly seeking proven pathways to remove fossil fuel combustion from high-temperature processes. The Adani deployment will demonstrate electrified high-temperature heat generation at industrial scale, and the partnership between Coolbrook and ABB highlights the importance of combining advanced process technology with established electrification expertise.

The calcination phase of cement production is known to be fossil fuel intensive. Coolbrook’s RDH™ provides clean heat to dry and enhance the heating value of alternative fuels. By enabling a higher proportion of sustainable or waste alternatives in the energy mix rather than fossil fuels, the deployment is expected to directly reduce ~60,000 tons of carbon emissions annually with potential for further increases.

Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook, said: “Cement production is entering a decisive phase in its electrification journey. After years of development and industrial validation, attention is now focused on delivering projects at scale. As producers intensify efforts to cut emissions while maintaining operational reliability, scalable electrification solutions are becoming central to long-term investment decisions. ABB brings deep expertise in electrification systems and global execution capability, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance standards that heavy industry demands.”

Joachim Braun, President, ABB’s Process Industries division, said: “Decarbonizing process industries, including cement, requires close partnership, scalable technology solutions and a pioneering spirit. Supporting Coolbrook in the operational delivery of this first-of-its-kind industrial-scale installation is an important milestone. By providing the systems that enable high-temperature electrification in cement production, we are enabling industrial customers to reduce emissions while meeting their performance and productivity targets.”

About Coolbrook:

Hailed as the key technology for industrial decarbonization globally, Coolbrook is a transformational technology and engineering company on a mission to decarbonize major industrial sectors like petrochemicals and chemicals, iron and steel, and cement. Coolbrook’s revolutionary rotating technology combines space science, turbomachinery and chemical engineering to replace the burning of fossil fuels across all major industrial sectors. The technology has two main applications: RotoDynamic Reactor™ (RDR™) to reach 100% CO2 free olefin production, and RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™) to provide carbon-free process heating to iron and steel, cement and chemicals production. Once implemented at scale, the RotoDynamic Technology has the potential to reach temperatures of 1700°C and cut 2.4 billion tonnes (30%) of annual CO2 emissions in heavy industry. For more information, please visit www.coolbrook.com
